Missy,
Take heart... check the totals now......— Charge
Missy I think you read the question wrong I did the frist time to it is asking should In God we Trust be removed I say HECK NO so if you vote no then you want the motto to stay only 13% voted that it should be removed by voting yes read the question again carefully as I miss read it the first time GOD BLESS America
Dont forget- Christian arent the only religion in the US.
We don't even know that Christians are right.
I agree with you and I also feel that if these people that want god out of everything if they don't like our country with GOD in it then they need to go back where they come from.
you are worth reading...many are not.
Good for you Missy. We should not even be having this conversation. The intent & spirit of the law should always be considered.
Does this mean that the only people who can govern or hold a local, state or federal job are atheists?
Pretty far fetched, ah. Just like the foolishness to remove God from our
currency.
but, missy - this was added to currency when the country WAS divided BECAUSE it was divided.
it was added to money in the 1860's as a reaction to increased religious sentiment during the civil war...at a time when the country was bitterly divided over racism and slave ownership. and to my understanding, it replaced "e pluribus unum" (out of many, one) - a far more appropriate sentiment for a country based on separation of church and state where you can still be patriotic and love your country without having the same religion as a bunch of other people (or any religion, for that matter).
and "under god" was added to the pledge in 1954 as a reaction to a growing fear of communism.
i strongly advocate for others rights to believe what they want and worship as they choose. but, i don't think it's right for one groups' beliefs to be forced upon anyone else (and that includes trusting in god if you don't - doesn't mean you're a bad person. you might trust in love and fellowship and humanity!). in most cases, you can walk away or turn off the tv or look elsewhere if someone tries to impose their beliefs on you - but it's awfully hard when it's printed on your money.
i totally agree with you. i have 2 children of my own. as i was growing up i remember every morning when entering my classroom we said the pledge of allegiance and in god we trust was the main part of the whole pledge. reading some of these mean things being said towards God anger me. at the same time make me sad. thank you for stating your opinion and im going to also.
You have spoken the sad and sorry truth. Why are only certain minority groups
recognized as those with any "rights". The general Religion that Our Country was based on was Judeo Christian. These people came to the New World for Religious Freedom...freedom to express their faith in their God and to worship as they saw fit. As a nation we are taught to be "tolerant" of many new faiths, life styles etc.( that many of us do not believe in or condone), but we are not shown the same respect and "rights" by these very same groups...WHY?!?
Check out the MSN "vote" taken 2/09 on whether to remove "IN GOD WE TRUST" off our $$ or not....its now 85% NO...leave it alone. We need all the help we can get. My motto..."tolerate me and I'll tolerate you" . We don't have to agree, just get along. The "GOD" on our $$ can be whomever you believe to be your God! Lets move on!!
Amen!!! Well said. I too hope and pray that the younger generation stands up and say's, "enough is enough, you are polluting us with your filth." As a youth leader I'm always trying to help them see how our culture is moving in the wrong direction (away from God).

I agree with you, I am sick of hearing all of the I DON'T believe in GOD, OK so you don't believe in GOD just leave the ones who do alone and go worship whoever or whatever you want and stop trying to change us, for so many years people act like Christians are the bad guy, well which is better a person who goes to church and is kind and takes care of his family and friends or a THUG out there who steals, and a doper and could not take care of a pet rock who kills our love ones and causes our children to get on drugs and drop out of school and the list could go on but , let me ask again which person had you rather live beside ??? I just do not get the deal here. The non Christians are mad at the Christians and The Christians that are the real deal , well they pray for those who don't believe. They don't kill them or steal from them or cause the kids to take drugs, so why are they so turned off by GOD?
It looks to me as though it's 16% for yanking and 84 % for keeping as of today 2/7/09.
This is a democracy, and my understanding is that the majority rules. I am sure that these nay sayers about everything that the majority in this country want can find another country where they can have their heart's desires.
The fool says there is no God, and they have a holdiay on April 1st of every year.

We were founded as a Christian Nation and wrote all of our important documents in English NOT Spanish and with faith and hope that GOD would help reach our goals. If you don't like this Nation go else where. Otherwise know when your freedoms are impinging on the Nations rights. Missy is absolutely right and even be stronger in her defense of GOD in and for our Nation. If you don't believe you have that GOD given right but please keep it to yourself. It is amazing how many ATHEISTS pray to GOD when they are going to die or could die or are really really scared. This Nation gives you that right. Keep it up MISSY great job........
I agree..I myself am i child of this generation fighting for freedom to be respected & appreciated...not abused & cast off. We have to remember the path that has been cleared for us. Sacrifices had to be made for us just as we need to make them for the next generation and so on. Sometimes people become so selfish that they don't realize how they push away the very things that can help make their life better. We seem to think that we don't need each other or that their isn't enough to go around. When in actuality we can do far more by FAITH then we can do alone. Have Faith is what God said...simply believe. Then ACT upon what we believe. Faith & Action go hand in hand. "In God we trust" is a reminder....and an act of humility. It's a statement of proof that our money is not above God. It doesn't last forever. Look at our country...has it not been determined that we are in a recession??? However, still we live...still we rise....we may have debt...who doesn't ?? WE ARE moving in motivation by faith towards change.
Also....just because atheists choose not to believe doesn't mean they don't need God..It means they need him MORE !!! We need to keep on praying for their freedom. Lets keep our money in its place....under God!!!!
You are wrong.....84% DO NOT want it removed....check your facts
Actually, 84% voted to KEEP the phrase. If you will re-read the questions, as they were posted, a "Yes" vote was actually a vote to remove the phrase, while a "No" vote was a vot to keep the phrase. Careful reading was in order here, and while I applaud the end result, I wonder if some of those voting thought they were voting one way when, in fact, they were voting the opposite. In any event, more religions than the Christian religion believe in God, albeit by a variety of names. I don't believe there are many, if any, multi-diests these days, although there are agnostics and atheists. Given that our country was founded on religious freedom - and ethical principles, I get the idea that those folks are being hard-pressed to find something to use to create drama in their lives.
Missy, where did you find 51%. If you voted properly you will see the results, and they are 84% for and 16% against. I can add that I was surprised that there are 16% loonies in this, quickly sinking, America. Sad future for our children and grandchildren.
I agree. Tell the atheist to go start their own country or simply move to one that doesn't believe in God. THIS COUNTRY was founded on Godly principles! Keep it that way.
Don't worry Missy, the thinking people of the US haven't all voted yet. The stats are now 84 against, 16 for and I expect this lopsided decision to continue to grow in that direction. Don't be disheartened by the short sighted few. They may make loud noises every once in a while, but they ALWAYS lose. Have faith in the US, its people, and common sense.
How wrong you are! You speak as though you have studied the bible and are absolutely sure you are correct. I feel sorry for you that your life is lead by you and you alone and that in the end you will suffer.
I pray that the hand of God will touch your soul and warm your heart that you will know him and learn of his unstoppable love for you. In a world that is being turned upside down by non faith and phony faith, it is now that we need to stand strong in our foundation of which we were built, pull back together and defend the honesty and integrity that gave us this awesome country. I realize that there are so many un-truths being expelled in the world, but I beg you, do your research and you will find what I found...the bible is the way, the truth and the pathway to the Lord Jesus Christ. May he be with you. Many strong well educated people have gone after the bible to disprove it and you know what has happened to all of them, they have found their way to the truth that Jesus is our Lord and creator...may you find him now.
